What time is check-in?
The check-in time at our Carmel-by-the-Sea bed & breakfast is between 3 p.m. and 10 p.m. daily. If you arrive early, we are happy to store your luggage until your room becomes available. If you plan to arrive after 10 p.m., you must provide advance notice to the hotel.
What time is check-out?
Our check-out time is 11 a.m.
Is parking available at the hotel?
Complimentary on-site parking is available on Carmelo Street and San Antonio Avenue. For those parking on the street, please be advised that guests should not park on the East side of San Antonio Avenue along the brick wall (refer to hotel map provided at check-in). Violators will be cited by the City of Carmel.
Can I bring my pet?
Unfortunately, the Colonial Terrace does not accommodate pets.
Is Wi-Fi Available at the hotel/in the rooms?
Yes. For our registered guests, the hotel offers complimentary high-speed wired and wireless Internet access in all rooms and suites & public spaces. When accessing the WiFi network, please select “Colonial Wi-Fi” and enter the password provided at check-in and agree to the terms & conditions.
Do you have food & beverage services?
Unfortunately, we do not have a restaurant or bar on-site. We do, however, serve a complimentary continental breakfast in the main lobby daily from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Fresh baked cookies are also served in the main lobby daily at 4 p.m. For recommendations on local restaurants, please visit our front desk. (For those walking to Carmel at night, please note that the streets of Carmel do become very dark at night. For your convenience, flashlights are provided at the front desk for your use should you wish to take a walk after the sun goes down.)
Do you provide daily housekeeping service?
Daily housekeeping service is provided between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m at our hotel in Carmel-by-the-Sea, CA. If you prefer service at a specific time, please contact the front desk.
Do you allow smoking?
Smoking is not permitted in the Colonial Terrace’s guest rooms and suites or indoor public spaces. Guests are welcome to smoke in designated, outdoor sections of the hotel.
What should I do if I lost or forgot something in my room?

What is the hotel's best rate guarantee?
Our Best Rate Guarantee assures you that you will find the lowest published Internet rate on our website at www.thecolonialterrace.com. If you find a rate lower than what is shown on our website that is visible and bookable on another website for the same room type, same dates and length of stay, we will verify the availability of the other site's price, and if it is lower, we will match it and discount it by 10%. Do you require a deposit to hold reservations?
Reservations must be guaranteed by providing a valid credit card at the time of booking. A deposit equal to the first night room and tax will be charged to the card provided 48 hours prior to arrival. For stays of seven or more nights, we require an advance deposit equal to 25% of the total anticipated room & tax charges at the time of booking. Reservations over special event/holiday dates require one night deposit due at the time of booking.
How do I change or cancel my reservation?
Contact us at 800.345.8220 and we will be happy to make any changes or cancellations in line with our cancellation and modification policy.
What is the hotel's cancellation policy?
We have a 48 hour cancellation and modification policy. You may cancel your reservation 48 hours prior to arrival or make modifications in your departure date 48 hours prior to the intended departure date. If cancellations or modifications are made within the 48 hour period, you may be subject to cancellation and early departure fees. Extended stay reservations (seven or more nights) cancelled or changed with fewer than seven days notice will forfeit their advance deposit. Cancellations or changes to holiday/event reservations must be made at least 7 days prior to arrival to receive a full refund of deposit.
Do you have early departure fees?
We allow guests to modify their reservation up to 48 hours prior to arrival with no penalty. Modifications resulting in a reduction of the number of reserved room nights less than 48 hours of arrival or during your stay will result in a charge of $100 per day that is reduced.
